Licensed Professional CounselorCuriously, we find that unwanted symptoms such as anxiety, rumination, and depression, as well as dismaying life-choices, beliefs, and behaviors, often make great-sense on some level. They are (often misguidedly) trying to protect us from deeper hurts or fears. But the pain they cause is real and the symptoms are tenacious. Positive change comes from compassionately unpacking and updating these difficult feelings and patterns, ushering in the possibility of moving from survival toward thriving. I welcome the opportunity for a sensitive and non-judgmental examination of these with you, in the safe environment we will create together.
My professional interests include working with women and men, 15 and older, on PTSD, life transitions, relationships and family, betrayal, divorce or break-up, loss and grief, stress, career, men’s issues, substance use or other addictions, seniors, gender, veterans, fear and stuckness, and finding meaning. Beginning with a concentration on the therapeutic relationship, I work with an eclectic mix of evidence- based, trauma-informed therapeutic modalities including but not limited to, EMDR, EFT, IFS, and CBT, all through the lens of Memory Reconsolidation. I also find great merit and wisdom in depth psychology, evolutionary psychology, and existential approaches among others.
I graduated with an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Union Institute and University in 2018 and hold an LPC license from the State of Connecticut. I have 25 years experience working with men’s groups. In my longtime first career as a building contractor and carpenter, I took great joy in working closely with clients as we co-created their unique and
highly personal homes together. Now I delight in watching clients come “home” to themselves in our work together.
